Your budget is set. These guides show what each category really buys — and where couples overspend.

Methodology

How we calculate your plan

Your budget is split across 14 categories using the average share couples spend, from The Knot 2026 Real Weddings Study. The four priority presets shift that split toward what matters most to you.

Each category’s typical range combines a fixed cost and a per-guest cost (catering scales with guests, a photographer doesn’t). That range is then multiplied by your state’s cost index — New York is ×1.30, Texas is ×1.00, Mississippi ×0.85.

Questions

Good to know

How does the wedding budget calculator work?

Enter your total budget, guest count, state and wedding date. We split the budget across 14 categories using national averages, then show a typical price range for each category adjusted for your state and guest count. Drag any slider to make it yours.

Where do the numbers come from?

Category percentages are based on The Knot 2026 Real Weddings Study. State adjustments use cost-of-living data with a wedding-vendor premium for high-demand areas. Every figure is reviewed by a person before it ships.

Is my budget saved?

Your plan is saved in this browser only, and encoded in the page link so you can bookmark or share it. We never store it unless you ask us to email it to you.

Why do the category totals not exactly match my budget?

We round every figure to the nearest $50, because real quotes aren’t precise to the dollar. The over/under indicator uses your exact percentages.
